Happy to Have Church Leaders
I recently attended my aunt's funeral.  There were a lot of beautiful flowers and a lot of nice things said.  I hope she knew all that while she was still with us.  So it's with that in mind, I want to pay tribute to some special people in my life:  Brother Bobby and Charlotte Lowery, former pastors of mine.  I was blessed to have them twice.  She taught public school.  She taught my children.  She also taught my Sunday school class.  I learned a lot from her, since I was a young Christian.  Brother Bobby taught all of us a lot of the love and grace of God.  He loved the song "Amazing Grace".  He preached a lot from Romans which has a lot to say about God's grace.
I saw a picture and a story in one of our local papers of a family trimming their tree.  They say they are atheist, but they still celebrate.  Would someone explain to me whom they are celebrating?  When you take out Christ from Christmas, you have nothing left.  If not for him, there is nothing to celebrate.  That baby born in Bethlehem is the only reason for the season.  He was born to die for all the world.  You and I are part of the world.
I know the heartbreak of losing a child, but I can't imagine the heartbreak of a mother who watched her baby grow to be a man, hang on a cross and die an agonizing death.  There's a song that says He grew the tree He knew would be that cross that he was nailed to.
That's Christmas.  Thank you Brother Lowery and Charlotte.  I love and appreciate you for all you taught me.
God has blessed us with a wonderful pastor right now.  Brother Greg and Rebecca Woodall and Brother Anthony and Lisa Martin.
Thank God for his unspeakable gift, Jesus Christ.  You can't match that.
